Are you looking for a training program where you can combine the technical work of a mechanic with the precise recipes of a chef? Congratulations, you’ve found it! In the 3-year training program to become a Plastics and Rubber Technologist, you’ll be responsible for both operating and monitoring machines and mixing materials according to specific recipes. As the name suggests, the two main materials you’ll work with are plastics and rubber. In everyday language, plastics are commonly known as plastic, and rubber as rubber. The focus of the training will be on composite materials.

Your area of responsibility

  • Development, design, and optimization of components and assemblies in the field of lightweight construction and composite materials
  • Creation and detailing of 3D CAD models as well as manufacturing and assembly drawings, considering technical requirements
  • Close collaboration with production, development, quality assurance, and project management to ensure efficient implementation of designs
  • Selection of suitable materials and manufacturing processes, taking into account economic and functional aspects
  • Support in developing new innovative design solutions for the use of composite components
  • Supervision and support of prototype construction as well as transitioning components into series production
  • Maintenance and continuous optimization of technical documentation, including bill of materials and specifications
  • Active participation in interdisciplinary development projects and close cooperation with external partners and suppliers

What You Should Bring:

  • Completed training as a technical draftsman, technical product designer, design engineer, or a degree in mechanical engineering, lightweight construction, vehicle engineering, or a comparable field
  • Several years of experience in design, ideally in lightweight construction and composite materials
  • Solid experience in designing with common CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor)
  • Knowledge of composite materials and lightweight construction is an advantage
  • Structured, self-reliant, and solution-oriented working style with a strong sense of quality
  • Strong communication skills, team spirit, and the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams
  • Experience with PLM and ERP systems is desirable
  • Excellent German (C2) and good English skills (B2) in both spoken and written communication

  • Updating and further development of management and quality documentation
  • Reviewing legal requirements, standard changes, and guidelines, as well as updating company and QM regulations

Your area of responsibility

  • Responsible for managing projects in the area of lightweight and composite materials, typically ranging from 1 to 3 years, from the conceptual phase to series production
  • Independently prepare and lead meetings with customers to align requirements, project progress, and resolve technical challenges
  • Create detailed project plans, including resource planning, milestone and scheduling, as well as monitoring the project’s progress and adherence to time and budget constraints
  • Lead interdisciplinary project teams, consisting of engineers, technicians, and external partners, to achieve project goals
  • Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders and customers regarding project status, risks, and opportunities
  • Ensure that all project activities comply with quality standards and safety requirements, and identify and manage project risks

What You Should Bring:

  • Completed studies in Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Technology, a comparable degree, or a technician with several years of professional experience.
  • Several years of experience in managing projects in the fields of lightweight construction, composite materials, or similar technical areas
  • Solid knowledge in planning and executing development projects with a duration of 1 to 3 years
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in client interaction, as well as in leading meetings
  • Good knowledge of relevant standards and regulations in composite materials
